Here is one for the books…. You know when you wake up late… really really late and you hit into massive panic mode as you scrable to throw everyone in the car to get to your destinations on time. Well, that happened to me on Monday when I woke up at 7:50 which happens to be the time that I need to be to work, with all of the kids in tow. I got to work at 8:05, and although I was late, I was pretty darn proud of myself for getting dressed, and everyone to their destinations in 15 minutes. Go me!
Well… Today the same darn thing happened. I woke up and looked at the clock and it said 7:52! WTH!!! It happened again. Twice in one week. So, I jumped out of bed, threw on the first thing I could see, started yelling at the kids to get in the car (I figured that I would just deal with dress code when I got to school.) I brushed my teeth (very important hygiene habit and you should never skip it no matter how late you are, popped an energy vitamin and raced to the front door.
I got to the car and the kids, surprisingly enough, were obedient enough to already be there. We took off out of the driveway and headed down the street when this conversation ensued.
Kaeson: “Hey mom, where are we going?”
Me: “School. We are super late.”
Kaeson: “Why, what is going on?”
Kaeson: “I get that, what are we late for? Oh, and why are you so grumpy?”
Me: (Now I am beyond irritated and into irate… it isn’t coincidence that those two words are spelled similarly)
“We are late for SCHOOL! I have to be there are 7:50, I woke up at 7:52 and it is already 8:07. So, THAT is where we are going and THAT is why we are late.”
Kaeson: Mom, you do realize it is P.M. right. It is 8:07 pm.”
OH. MY. HELL. I have lost it. It has been such a long and exhausting day / week (Ok, year… but who’s counting really) that I laid down after school and apparently fell asleep. HARD. I dreamt and everything. I woke up tonight thinking it was tomorrow. I wonder how long I would have been at school before realizing that no one was coming.
On the bright side (for all of you that know my Kelton story) I had all of my kids, and for the first time in the history of us, they were obedient and right ready to go when I threatened them with imenent death.
So, now here I am, my heart is racing a million miles a second, I am being cautiously mocked by my children, and soon to be the whole of facebook, and I have taken an energy vitamin at 8:00 p.m. I think that i might be a tad overwhelmed. But on the bright side, I am totaly wide awake now and have taken an energy pill, so maybe I can finally get to watching the first episode of “Stranger Things!”
Happy Wednesday Evening Everyone!
