A couple of weeks ago we went up to the Hill Air Force Base open house and air show. We made it at the very end of the day but, we were still able to see some of the planes that they had on display. As we got closer and closer to the base, Kaeson started noticing all of the Airmen lining the streets and directing traffic. At the time, we were calling them soldiers (I have since been corrected) and Kaeson couldn’t get enough of the fact that he was seeing so many soldiers.
As we were parking the car and walking towards the base entrance, Kaeson turned to me and said that more than anything else, he wanted to meet and say hi to a soldier. So, we walked up to a couple of them that were sitting next to the entrance, let him say hi and took his picture with them. He was on cloud nine for the reset of the time! On the way out of the base, one especially tall airman came up to us and walked and talked with us as we were leaving. He was beyond elated at a double dose of “soldiers.”
A couple of days later, I was talking to my awesome friend Julie and relating this little experience. She was thrilled but quickly informed me that they were not soldiers but indeed airmen. However, she was sure that noone took offense at my ignorance. Her husband flies with the airforce and they are on base in Nebraska.
Well, on Saturday, I received the coolest package ever in the mail. Julie and her amazing hubby Rod ordered and sent us a set of Air Force Camos for Kaeson. Kaeson was with me when I opened the package and was speechless (a rarity for my little, exhausting devil.) It has now been 5 days and he has been in that outfit almost nonstop. He now knows for certain that that is what he wants to do when he grows up.
I will add that cute Julie and family didn’t only send a little gift to Kaeson, they also send Kelty a bear from the base and Kyra got a baseball cap. Kyra is now calling herself an Airgirl! We love it. Now, Kelty is thrilled that Kaeson has Camos because they can now match. Kelty has an old hand-me-down camo shirt and hat from a neighbor and he loves to wear it when he sees his big brother sporting the Airman gear!

These pictures have just made my heart smile! Thanks for posting them 😀
Those pictures are so darling. What a great friend 🙂
You can tell that Kaeson was absolutely beaming when you were at Hill. What an incredible gift. I am glad you found the nice airmen. (I went out with at least one and hung out with his friends at the NCO. Jerks! hahaha)
I think it is a wonderful thing to want to be!
