Last year my mom gave my kiddos each a small 1 foot Christmas tree with candy tied on them as ornaments. They were a hit and the kiddos LOVED them. Most people would toss them after the holiday was over, but this is ME we are talking about, so into the Christmas corner of the storage room they went.
I am trying to make the holidays fun for the kiddos, so last night for FHE, I pulled them out and gave each of the kiddos a little pile of dollar store ornaments to decorate their trees with.
What a hit! They were all so much fun to watch. Bear took about 20 minutes to put on his little stream beads and lights. He had to get it just right. He decorated, undecorated and then redecorated his tree about a dozen times.
Nena, being the eternal pixie that she is, made sure that everyone knew at what stage she was at with the decorating of her tree. “Now I am putting on my gingerbread everyone!” (Pause for applause) “Did you hear me Bear????” Oh, and all of her ornaments were on one side.
Toad was my favorite to watch. I think that of all of the kiddos trees, his tree most resembles a Charlie Brown tree. He was by far the creative and thoughtful when placing his ornaments. He was truly filled with joy while doing this activity.
Yep, there comes a time in ever tree decorating evening that one must climb on the table to accomplish every perfected detail.
Bear got the same idea.
They were so proud of their accomplishments.

I want to do this! What a great idea!
This is a fantastic idea, great way to get them involved. By the way, LOVE Toadie's popped collar 😉
Color me inspired, I will pick up 3 of the nicer mini-trees after Christmas and hope that Ben isn't too old for this sort of thing next year (he will be 12!!!). What a great idea!!
