Yesterday was one of those days that you can’t believe really happened. It is where things go freakishly well and you have to stop and wonder if it a sign of the Apocalypse. The day started off with Nena getting up a half hour early, dressing herself and preparing breakfast for the family. It was complete with cereal, a fruit basket, place cards for each member and a personalized note written on everyone’s napkins. Everyone got chocolate milk except for me because, as she told me, “Mom, you ARE getting older and you should be watching your weight! ” How is that for an early morning self esteem booster. We got through the morning without a hitch. Kiddos ready for the carpool on time. Scriptures were read BEFORE school and we even had a moment to play a short game.
Then, while the other two were off at school, Toad decided to hang out with mom. I coaxed him into the tub where he played with the magic water changers until the bathwater looked like Shrek’s swamp. After emerging from his swampy mess, Toady promptly picked up his Teddy Ruxpin (Yes, they still exist) and starting rocking out in real Teddy style. I turned on the radio and Lady Gaga started singing Poker Face. Oh, did Toad get into that one. Not only was he one majorly rocking naked 2 year old but, he also knew quite a few of the lyrics to the song. HOW IN THE WORLD??????????
The question that I have been getting about that one is “Did I get it on film?” No, people, I did not. I, in all honesty tried, but I realized that I didn’t have the know how to edit it to be appropriate 🙂
Later, during Toad’s nap time, Bear was given the choice of a reward. He has been doing an AMAZING job lately of being a fantastic kid. So, I let him choose. We could do a puzzle, watch a show, play a game, anything. He chose………….. CLEANING THE BATHROOM!!!! And NO! That wasn’t one of the choices. He loved it though. He had his spray bottle and sponge and spent almost a full hour cleaning everything in sight!
He must have really worked hard because he exhausted himself and ASKED if he could lie down for a minute. I should have called and raced him up to Primary Children’s Hospital for severe delirium.Yesterday was buy one get one free at the school book fair. Even though we have books coming out of our ears, we headed on over. Bear was awesome and the only thing that he wanted was a set of finger pointers that he had apparently seen at the last book fair. 99 cents. That was all. I had to beg him to choose something else for the buy one get one.
Toad on the other hand turned to devil mode and wanted every book there. In his defense, he loves books and looks at them as he falls to sleep at night. After a moment of time out, he calmed down and was easily able to choose the books that he wanted.
Then, to end the day, ALL THREE KIDDOS went to bed without a fight. They slid themselves under the covers and were out like lights in a matter of minutes. Really! Minutes. I looked around. The house was clean (yes, even I preformed miracles during the day) and there wasn’t a lot to do. So, I locked up the house and snuggled under my covers and watched a movie. I can not tell you the last time I did that!
I am still not convinced that this day really happened. I am sure that part of it was a dream. However, it was a great dream.

What a great day! I love the halo on Toad. That cracks me up. You just have the sweetest children.
Wow. That really was a great day! And I think the breakfast was darling. And the weight comment was funny. Hayden asked me yesterday why my stomach was still so big. I must have looked taken aback because after a long pause he blurted out, "Just kidding!"
