Have you noticed that on every family blog there seems to be a few obligatory blog posts every year. I have noticed this trend. There are certain posts that EVERY one is posting. If you don’t post your similar event then you just fit it. Tell me seriously. Am I wrong???
The obligatory blog post:
* At least one soccer game for one of the kiddos.
* Christmas morning.
* A camping trip anywhere. Even if it is just for one day and the tent is really a Motel 6…. which in my books is more like camping than being in a tent.
* First day of school…. the sad sappy type where you can’t believe that your babies are growing up.
*Second day of school…. where you are singing and dancing around the house because you have 1/2 a day without children and can actually take a shower without 15 knocks on the door while you are in there.
* The last day of school where you make all of all of those fabulous things that you are bound and determined to do this summer since you didn’t do them last summer.
* That post with the picture of your 4 year old with ice cream dripping down his chin as he falls asleep at his dinner plate.
* Halloween costumes, Easter Egg hunts, Pony rides and the 4th of July fireworks display.
Well, if you are anywhere near the Salt Lake Valley, you have to add Silver Lake blog post. I have noticed them popping all over the Salt Lake Valley Blogosphere. Not wanting to offend the blogspot gods, I know that I must present my Silver Lake photos or deal with unmentionable fate (I wonder if somewhere out there there is an unmentionable fate that consists of chocolate ice cream, a diet coke and a big long nap. If there is, I totally want some of that action.)
Enjoy!
I have such an awesome family. |
Being the mean mother that I am, I always make my kiddos read all of the signs any time we go anywhere. |
Trying so hard to be a big boy. |
What could be more fun than staring at water??? |
Staring at ducks of course! |
Nena LOVES her uncle. |
He was so excited to have found a duck. |
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this kid. Well, I love them all, but he was the only one in this picture! |
I admit it, my kiddos have one amazingly awesome grandfather. |
Best friends. |
Toad would leave me in a heartbeat for his grandpa. They are attached at the hip. |
Toady walks so slowly and grandpa is SO patient with him. |
A rare glance at my mother. She doesn’t ever let me take her picture. |
They love to watch people fish. |
My brother has found a new love with fishing. He goes whenever he can. He is such a great uncle and loves to take Bear along. |
Bear finally got to fish! He was THRILLED!!!! |
This kind man saw that Bear was drooling over the fishing poles and offered to show him how to fish. This man was so nice and took time to explain everything to Bear. I love it when I find kind people along the road of life. |
This guy was reeling them in! |
I love pictures of my boys. Especially when it makes them look like they are getting along. They weren’t this day, but you would never know it. Oh the joys of photography! |
The reason that people visit Silver Lake |
SO incredibly gorgeous |
Someone once asked me how you could spend the day at Silver Lake. The entire boardwalk is probably no more than a mile. THIS is the reason that you spend the “day.” When your youngest is 2 and terribly tired, 2 hours certainly seems like an entire day. NO… he didn’t fall. He was playing the game where two people take a hand and he picks up his feet to be swung around. However, instead of swinging, he was dragging his feet so it was like taking a 35 pound bag of flour on a walk. We finally placed him down and he melted down. He was beside himself that he wasn’t being doted on. |
Thank heavens Grandpa was there to make it all better. |

Wow I must be a loser then. No kid soccer games here…although I do attend ReAl Matches any time possible.
I do not camp. Period. End of story.
The school thing…i could post about the kiddos who leave their bikes on the side of the road all day while at school. Or how I miss them while they are in school because it means they aren't outside entertaining me anymore.
The fact is…I love your photos and I am glad you do the obligatory blogs.
Wait a minute!!! I'm still stuck at the kids knocking. Your kids KNOCK before entering?!?! What the?!?!
