Last week Nena had a pretty neat opportunity. We found out through a friend that the local high school was doing a cheer camp for little girls (I am assuming it was to raise money for something) which included a shirt and the opportunity to cheer at the Friday night football game. Nena was T-H-R-I-L-L-E-D to participate.
She got together with her cute friends Kara and Emma and along they went. After the practice, Nena came home cheering her head off. I got a cheer because we had BLT’s for dinner that night. Bear got a cheer because he remembered to slush the potty. Toad got a cheer because he brushed his teeth. We got a cheer to say goodnight. By the end of the evening, I was a bit cheered out.
I am sure that school the next day we excruciating as she had to sit through spelling tests and homework before she could trek it on home to change for her big night. 7:00 hit and she was already waiting in the car! I have never seen her move so fast in my life. Too bad that doesn’t happen when I tell her that we are going to school! The organization told us to be there at 7:30 and that they would be performing at 7:45. We raced over. Cut ribbons for the girls hair haphazardly just trying to get something done. Went over a cheer with them and then sat there for an hour. I don’t know who was in charge of scheduling, but we didn’t need THAT much time.
The cheerleaders came running by and grabbed our girls to follow them and being the proud mamas that we are, were raced off the bleachers and right onto the field. The girls did such a great job. They enjoyed every last minute of it and are so proud that they had the chance to cheer in front of such a big group. There is no way in the world that you will every be able to convince them that they are not real cheerleaders!
