Today I was at the bank getting a new debit card because the ATM ate mine for dinner last night. I know… another long story. As I was reaching for my wallet, the bank manager teased me about the books in my purse. He asked if I was the new version of the Bookmobile. I laughed and told him that he no idea, and that I was traveling light.
I have a Mary Poppins purse most day. I will do a future post on that, because I know that the whole of the universe is dying to know what I keep in my purse. Actually, I do a good job of stocking that sucker. I get it from being a mom and teacher all rolled up into one. However, for today, I will spare you that fun little journey and focus on the book portion only.
The book in the top left is my school planning book. I don’t normally have this in my purse, but I needed to take it to my class tonight. It is my school bible and all of my plans go in there. I have to keep track of what I am teaching!
The top right is my calendar. I used to have an awesome pink one and it somehow got lost with all of the Christmas festivities. Sad. I liked that one. Anyway, that is an absolute MUST HAVE at all times. My brain is so overfilled with all that it has to contend with that if I don’t write things down, I will forget. Guaranteed. I will even forget on my way to do something and get sidetracked and do something else. It is depressing because I used to be one of those people that never had to write anything down because I never forgot a thing. People used to comment on how sharp I was. Funny, they don’t say that anymore. Lesson here… if we make plans, and you don’t SEE me write it in my planner, expect that I will totally space it.
Bottom left with the paisley bird is my general notebook. I have very busy hands and have a constant need to be writing. I take notes on class, write to do lists, grocery lists, memos, cute things the kids say, ideas for my house, or life or school. That all goes in that notebook. It is my go to for everything and I feel lost without it.
Bottom right is my little blog book. I have so much to say and so many ideas in my head. I have a hard time keeping track of them all. I tried to keep track of them in the paisley book, but they were getting mixed up in the shuffle. I wanted to keep my blog posts organized to some degree. I have some pretty deep ones that require thought and planning and others are lists, ideas and pictures that I need to take. It helps me sort through my head and do a little planning. Penning my thoughts brings me a sense of peace.
Missing Book
This book doesn’t make it into my bag, however is my favorite. This was given to me by a very dear friend for Christmas. It is a handmade leather book with handmade paper pages. This is not an ordinary book so I have wanted to be extremely deciduous with what goes inside. This is where I have put the very most inner parts of my soul. I love this book and want to keep it positive and uplifting. I want this book to bring me joy.
And that my friends, is a tour of my book bag. So, when you run into me at the grocery store, you are welcome to tease me about the contents of my bag, but if you do, I get to quiz you on the contents 🙂
