Day #10 Yesterday I was grateful for Lortab and Demerol.
Just for those that are following, yesterday was my surgery. I went in and rapidly started to develop a headache. I passed out when they tried to put my IV in. They couldn’t seem to hit the vein and stay there, so I was squirting all over the place. That about did me in. They gave me a short of Demerol for the headache. I was SO grateful for that. From past experience, if I go into surgery with a headache, I come out extremely ill.
Surgery went better than expected. I was out in just over an hour when they had planned on 2+ hours to perform everything. The doctor told my mom that everything just lined up perfectly and couldn’t have gone smoother. That is always good to hear.
I came out of anesthesia without any incident. A first for me 🙂 I was so thrilled. I am home now with minimal dizziness which is fantastic. I do however have a wicked earache and am quite lightheaded. I am grateful for the Lortab which is taking the edge off, but it is never completely gone.
All in all, the surgery could not have gone better. I am so excited. My ear is packed with gel and cotton so I won’t really be hearing normally for another couple of weeks. However, on the really good side, I can hear myself talking. It is completely surreal. It is like when you have playing with a stethoscope and speak into it… that is similar to what I can hear. My voice is so loud when I talk. And that is just the beginning. I can’t wait to hear the final results.
I am going to be laying low for the next several days. I can’t lift, bend, cough, sneeze, sleep lying down, etc. It is amazing all of the things that affect your ears. I am exhausted though and need the break.
Thanks for all of the calls, texts, thoughts and prayers. I will return those calls sometime later on 🙂
