A Little Bit Scary
April 14, 2009

Last evening, I got a knock on my door. It was my neighbor, Chad. Chad asked me if I knew the owner of the car parked in the middle of the street. I looked outside and saw a car parked in the middle of the street with a woman inside. I had never seen them before in my life. He told me that she had been in that same spot, parked in the middle of the street directly in front of my house, for about 20 mintues just staring at my house.

He told me that he had gone up to talk to her and ask her what she needed but that she would not respond to him. So, he went and got his camera and started snapping pictures of the car and the driver. That did not deter her. She just kept staring at my house. That kind of freaked me out a bit. I couldn’t find Harvey so, I walked out with Chad and called out to the woman and asked her if she needed anything. She looked at me, simply answered “no” and continued to stare at the house.

I had noticed the car a while earlier. She had caught my attention because of the strange place that she had chosen to stop her car. Right in the middle of the road directly in front of my driveway. I counted it off to her driving a child around for a fund raiser. We tend to get that a lot.

Harvey finally appeared and I asked him if he knew the lady. He walked out and had no clue as to who she was. So, together Chad and Harvey walked up to the lady and tried to get her to talk to them. She wouldn’t talk to them, just continued staring at my house. I got a bit freaked out so, I went inside and called the police. Chad made a big deal about my calling the police so that the lady would know that that is what we were doing. I stood just inside my house talking to the police as Harvey and Chad described every detail of the car, the lady and the circumstance to me. She didn’t move and kept staring.

After about 10 minutes (where in the world were the police) she slowly started driving away. As she did, she turned to Chad and said, “I like that house.” EEEEEKKKK! That still has me wigged out.

How sad! She must have “problems” but you must update us if you ever see her again or if the police were able to help you. That would really scare me to death!

I wonder if the lady had some sort of amnesia or lapse in her thought processes. It is just too abnormal for it to be someone who simply likes your house. It is one thing to drive slowly by a house that you like, but it is a different thing entirely to decline to answer anybody’s questions. Perhaps she lived there at one time, and was trying to figure out why she liked the house so much. I don’t know. How old is your house?
