I get asked makeup questions nearly every day. I find it funny that only a few years ago, I knew nothing about makeup at all and wore very little, if any most days. I had no idea what products were, how to use them effectively or what tools to use. The funny part is that, I didn’t know that I didn’t know. When I am asked, I am excited to talk about it and love to give tips to people.
There are hundreds of thousands of make up tutorials on facebook. I have watched so many of them that I couldn’t even begin to count. I love them and have learned some pretty great tips and ideas. I often refer people to them as they ask me questions. So many times I have been asked to include what I tell people into my blog.
I have been extremely reluctant to post tutorials or advice or ideas on my blog, facebook, instagram, etc, as there are so many people out there doing just that. That, and I feel a little intimidated with it being a “vanity” post. However, there are a few gaps that are missing from these tutorials and my current situation.
First of all, most people on the makeup channels already have a HUGE collection of makeup, tools, brushes, colors, etc at their disposal and are able to do things that most people can’t simply because of the volume of products at their disposal.
Secondly, the vast majority of Youtube and instagram artists are significantly younger than I am. Where I am happy to learn all of these great ideas from the younger generation, I am quite a bit older than they are and my skin is much differently and my coloring is different.
Third, I am a single mom on a very tight budget and as much as I wish that I had an endless budget to try out every single new product out there, I simply can’t. I am lucky enough to have been able to a accumulate a good amount of products and have been able to figure out a lot of things. However, I know that I am the exception among my peers and realize that I have had a great chance to working with a number of products both high end and drug store. Amazingly enough, there is a lot of good and bad in both places.
So, with that being said, I am going to start posting makeup tips and trick and tutorials on my blog. I am doing this to help weed out all of the things that I have learned and make it very applicable to those around me. I have spent an incredible amount of time and money learning the art of makeup and would love to be able to share what I have learned with others, and hopefully save them the time and money and help them focus on what works for them.
So hop on board, ask me questions, give me ideas and let’s have some fun.
