This evening as I was reading to the boys, I picked up this book as one of the selections. It is a collection of “stories” for the very young. It is a cute book and Toad loved it. However, as I read through the following “story” I noticed something very out of sorts. Look closely at it and see if you see the same thing that I did. (Jeopardy Theme playing in the background)
Are you stumped? My question about this story is…… Why is THIS story double authored. I mean seriously. I wonder the story behind it. Did this start as a FHE game and neither parent could agree on who should get credit? Is it a pair of squawking siblings who are both graduates of the high school newspaper club? I don’t get it. Was this part of a family reunion collaboration that resulted in the early dividing of the will. Who knows. I just found it peculiar that this particular 8 (and that is a generous stretch) word book required a meeting of the minds and partnership.
Now, I don’t want to hear the argument that someone was the author and the other the illustrator. I looked through the book and every other story credits both author and illustrator. For example:
It just left me thinking…. and in a strange mood. Just thought I would share. Oh, and my boys thought that it was a lovely albeit short story.
