He Turned 5 Anyway!
June 8, 2009

After much begging, pleading, bribing and bargaining, I finally lost the battle and Kaeson turned 5 anyway. I have had a hard time keeping him reigned in and staying little. He is growing up so darn fast that I feel like he grows an inch every time I blink.

In our house, we celebrate birthdays over several days. Although it is a lot of work, it is actually easier for me to do a couple of small get togethers for birthdays instead of one big one that everyone comes to. So, that is what we did.

On Kaeson’s actual birthday he woke up to a breakfast of doughnuts and orange juice. I am not a fan of doughnuts so, they are a real treat here. There were streamers and balloons and he knew that he was the guy of the day. Leigh came jogging by the house first thing in the morning to bring Kaeson his first birthday gift: Whack-A-Mole! What an awesome game for 3 competitive kiddos.

The uncles came on over to take him out to lunch and we spent the day playing outside, grocery shopping and enjoying every single second of being 5 years old.

In the evening, the party really started. We were having my inlaws over for dinner so, I called in reinforcement. I invited some of our friends over to help celebrate the day and party with Kaeson. We had a big BBQ and served cupcakes and ice cream. Grandma and grandpa brought along a few gifts and he was entranced with the fact that he was not Optimus Prime!?!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this day so enjoyable. Really!!! You have no idea how much your presence and support helped me! Kaeson was so grateful that you were here and he loves you all. Oh, and thanks for keeping me in stitches. I loved it!

I didn't see any doughnuts when I was there! Were you holding out on me? What's up with that?
