Every year on Mother’s Day, the kids and I go to lunch or dinner because, let’s be honest, I do NOT want to cook on that day and the kiddos doing breakfast in bed (bless their adorable hearts) is about the only kid cooking that I can handle for the day.
In the past we have always gone to Sweet Tomatoes, as that has been a family favorite and everyone can find something they love there. However, it has closed all of its locations near us, and I had to break that news to the boys today.
The boys were instantly traumatized and in shock, and momentarily didn’t know how life would continue. Subsequently, pandemonium broke out and I braced myself for what I assumed would be the beginning of the apocolypse.
Arguing quickly ensued:
Kelton: Where are we going to go?
Kaeson: Red Lobster
Kelton: I don’t like seafood
Kaeson: Who cares. I do.
Kelton: Well, I don’t so that is a NO.
Kaeson: Why do you always get your way?
Kelton: I NEVER do..
Kyra: Hey, it is mother’s day, let’s let mom decide (favorite child nominee right here)
Kelton: Why would we ask her?
Kyra: She is the mother and it is MOTHER’S Day… DUH
Kelton: Oh yeah, well, we were the ones who made her a mom and so WE should be able to decide since it is because of us that she is even a mom at all.
Kyra: Mom, why don’t we get a sitter and you and I can go to lunch.
I have clearly lost control. Oh, and I have an amazing daughter.
