Last month, my little brother Dalton married his sweetheart, Kayleigh. I couldn’t be more excited for the both of them. Dalton is an amazing brother who is always so thoughtful and grateful. He is the one who always remembers birthdays and send random texts saying that he loves me. The cool thing is that his 16 years younger than I am. He was born when I was in high school, and in a lot of ways that has made us much closer as siblings.
One of the awesome benefits of this wedding was that my entire family was coming into town for the wedding. It has been several years since we have all been together, and several babies have been born since. We still have one baby on the way, but my parents weren’t going to let this time pass without getting a picture with the entire family! With me being the family picture JUNKIE, I was beyond THRILLED for this!
Well, with the family reunion, the wedding and the reception, we were NOT able to accomplish it! I was bummed! We always had one person missing. My sister missed the family reunion picture (but made it later on,) my kids were the only kids at the wedding, and my brother missed the reception. Just goes to show that no matter how well you plan things, you can’t ever count on things going the way you want.
Regardless, the family pictures turned out great. There is always photoshop for the missing siblings. I will have to be snobby for just a second and say that my family was there for all the events and pictures, so I did my part!
I was thrilled that the photographer (a friend of my little brother) offered to take some additional pictures of whoever wanted them. This goes to solidify in my brain that my favorite pictures of all time are the ones that aren’t planned and posed. My favorite pictures are the ones that are just life. I don’t think I am very photogenic, and when pictures just capture life instead of trying to look cute, I love them so much more!
This is my favorite personality picture. My kids make me laugh so hard. I have so much fun with them, just being us. We are VERY close knit and have such a great time interacting together.
I can’t believe how grown up my kids are getting. Kyra is no 5’1″ tall and she is gaining on me rapidly. I am even wearing heels in this picture. Kaeson is tall and skinny. I always feel so tall around them until I see our family pictures.
This one I LOVE because Kelton was the one who wanted to hold hands for one. He loves holding my hand when we aren’t in public. The other two don’t care and will hold my hand any old time.
I think this one is my overall favorite of the entire bunch. It just is perfectly us. We may be a little family that some will say is broken, but I say that we are four pillars holding strong!
