Every year I start this and ever year I fail. It is hard for me to keep up on this. You would think that life gets easier as it goes along, but actually, I find that my time gets sucked up even faster now. So, having said that I am going to do a brief catch up on the missed days of gratitude.
- My Mission President and his dear wife, President and Sister Stone: They are without doubt two of the most influential people in my life. I can not tell you blessed I am to have had them grace my life and to have their influence. Their life and live has extended to not only me, but my parents, siblings, children and friends. They are the the most selfless, understanding, caring and loving people that I have ever known. I could go on and on as to how they have been part of my life, but that would take a book to explain.
- Technology- I am in love with technology. It is both a blessing and a curse. I love that I have been able to catch up with my friends from years past. I love that Pinterest shows the latest trends, styles and every single craft that I think that I will attempt, but never do. I love the fact that I can talk face to face with my brother in Brazil using my Itouch. I love that I can text someone to deliver a message. I love that I can blog. I do hate however, that if I leave my phone at home while I go to the grocery store, it is a little like those dreams where I go to a college class in my underwear.
- Fabric- I have spent the last decade (or so) collecting yards upon yards upon yards of every single type of fabric that you can imagine. I may a small obsession with all things crafty, and now I am so glad that I have it. It has saved me (and many others at times) in a pinch when you need something quickly.
- My Bonus Kids- I have married a guy with an amazing little brood all his own, bringing our total to 7. I think that they are all so smart, entertaining and sincere. I love that all seven kiddos look like true siblings… and don’t look a thing like Craig or I. I teased him once saying that someone would look at us one day and be certain that I had been having an affair for the last 17 years. He quickly retorted that they would really just all assume that I wasn’t a natural blonde. Talk about low blows!!! I love getting the looks when we tell people that we have seven kids. All kidding aside, I am grateful to be part of a big family. I am grateful that Kyra has a sister that she has always wanted. I am grateful that I get the experience of loving a whole new group of kiddos.
- Stay at home mom- I can not even begin to express how grateful I am that I have been given the privilege of being a stay at home mom. Honestly, there are days that I would give anything to go back to work, but I look at the good that it is doing for our family for me to be here. I look at the moments that I would miss and moments that the children would miss. I love that I am here when the kids get home from school and that I am available when the teacher calls for help. I am grateful that I have been able to spend these precious years with them. I would never be able to get that back.
- My little place- I am so grateful that I was able to move on. In May, I decided to stop the fight. I gave the house to the kids’ father and decided to regain my strength and do it on my own. I packed everything that I needed and moved to a little place. At the time, I knew that I was going to marry Craig, I just didn’t know when. We have a little place, but it is perfect for the adjustment period that we are in. The bus stop is directly across the street. My good friend lives literally around the corner. She often times has to step in and help me. I was blessed to find a storage unit one street down. I live in a beautiful neighborhood of established families. I love that we are in a great ward where people are trying to be accepting.
- Tender mercies- My life is completely full of tender mercies. I love the little miracles that appear in my life on a fairly regular basis. I love that I am looked after. I love that when all things seem grim and that they are not going to work out, mountains move and miracles happen. One small one happened today that reinstalled my faith in humanity and let me know how much people really do care.
- Music- I love music. I always have. I am so grateful that my parents managed to save enough for us to have lessons. I know that I am not a stellar musician, but I am so grateful that my parents had faith in me to pursue my ambitions and work towards a goal. I am grateful that they helped me pay for college.
- I am grateful for all things sparkly. Really… do I need to explain.
- I am grateful that I speak Spanish. I know it is a little thing, but it has come in handy at the most unique moments. I am grateful that I had the foresight to get my medical translator license when I was in college. I love that I can think, read and speak in another language and in theory, some day I will pass that on to my kids.
- I am grateful for my favorite foods. I am grateful for salad, cheese, bleu cheese dressing, pizza, Diet Coke, Arby’s and Training Table. I am grateful that I am not allergic to anything that way. I am grateful that I have a daughter that is allergic to nearly everything, she is so calm about what she can and can’t eat. I am grateful that I have a good friend that has been my constant support and help throughout this whole process and continually helps by making my daughter’s life bearable with her food allergies.
- Photography- I am grateful for pictures. I am grateful that I have a father that is a pro and is constantly helping me better my skills. I am grateful for a decent camera and the ability to edit pictures. I am grateful that we have a great place like the internet to display.
- Venus Embrace- I am SOOOOOOOO grateful for the fact that we have the ability to shave our legs. I don’t know what I would do without my favorite razor!
- High Heels- I own one pair of flats. Literally. I love heels. I came late to the game of shoes. I didn’t realize how amazing they were and how much personality they brought to an outfit. I am grateful for amazing deals and thrift stores that help me feed my addiction on my sometimes rather meager budget.
- VACATIONS!!!! I am so grateful that in 2 days, I am going on a MUCH NEEDED AND LONG OVER DUE vacation. To boot, I am going with the guy that I am kinda crushing on right now.
