I love firsts. They are amazing, scary, thrilling, nerve wracking, exciting, and FUN!
Today was a day full of firsts. Today was Kelton’s first day of third grade. Kaeson had his first day of 7th grade. Both boys started at a brand new school this year.
This year we decided to really mix things up and go to a charter school. Both boys are wearing uniforms for the first time ever. I was made aware by a friend that I am insane to send them to school in white, but they do have other colors that they can wear. Their dad just happened to buy them new white shirts for school, so I took the easy route and made them match today. They were slightly less than thrilled to be matchy matchy. I, on the other hand, personally loved it.
This is a HUGE first for me. I am going from working with a full time second grade classroom to working all grades elementary through junior high… and teaching in a foreign language. En mi clase, hablamos espanol! My wardrobe has also had to change and go the route of professional. It is slightly unnerving to leave a lot of my fun clothes behind, but I am excited to see if I can pull off my fashion in a business environment.
Another first for us is that we are all back at the same school, but all doing something different. I have to admit, I am really relieved to have the boys at the same school again, and for me to be with them. I am hoping that this will be a good change for all of us.
The last first is getting a solo pict of Kelton with his teacher. My baby is growing up and now is in the 3rd grade. I can’t tell you how excited I am that they have good teachers, in a small school, where there is good environment and I am there to be able to be there in case of an emergency.
We’ve got this and we are PSYCHED for our year of firsts!
