When it comes to where I live, I am an extremely private person. Being a single mom, safety is a huge concern of mine. Aside from my family, only a few people know where I live, and I am ok with that. I keep my personal life pretty small. So when people unexpectedly arrive at my house, it is very disturbing and fills me with anxiety.
So… Freaky story of the evening. Just to preface: I live in a cute little house, in a cute little neighborhood. Tonight I came home and went into the house. I had an upstairs light on, so I didn’t turn on the lights on the main floor.
Within 5 minutes of coming home, I was standing in my front room, and noticed a man walking up my front lawn. He walked up to my door, looked in my windows, and tried the doorknob. He then walked over to the cars in my driveway and started trying to get into my cars.
I (foolishly) opened my door and yelled out, “Can I help you?” The man gruffly responded, “No Ma’am, I am fine.” and briskly walked away. He was wearing a long coat with the hood up. I called the police immediately and they were in the neighborhood almost immediately. They said that two other people were calling in at the same time about the same man.
First, I am rather freaked out and probably won’t sleep tonight.
Second, I am glad my kids are with their dad tonight.
Third, I am grateful to know that other people called in and were also being vigilant.
Fourth, WTH- WHO DOES THIS????????
